I just got back from attending the Governor's Honors Program in Valdosta, GA as a Design Major and Computer Minor. How did I get there? Well it's a long story, but I will explain it anyway. I have taken an Architectural Drafting class every year I have been in high school and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I was nominated for GHP my sophmore year, but I just thought it would be too much of a drag, plus some other personal stuff. I was nominated again last year and decided to take it. I am so glad I did because it has ended up to be the best summer of my life. Although, not as life changing as everyone says it is, I have come to appreciate my summer at GHP and all the fun I had on the Magic Square.

In my Design Major I did a large amount of work in historical redaptive reuse. My 14 colleagues and I worked on several proposals for the renovation of the building (left picture) on the corner of Hill Avenue and Patterson Street in downtown Valdosta, Georgia. After many hours of deep thought my friends Jason and Trenise helped me came up with the plan on the right. This was unusually difficult becuase do to historical preservation standards it is not possible to make any new openings in existing walls. |  |
| The end result of all of this was amazing to me. I don't know if you can tell from this particular picture, but it really turned out good. The model contains lots of detail work which I know is not visible in this picture, i.e. furniture, molding, brick work. Please look for the model on tour in the Valdosta area throughout August 1998.
